Home / Treatments / Skin Tag, Wart & Benign Lesion Removal
Quick, precise treatment for suitable skin tags, warts and selected benign skin lesions using plasma technology.
A plasma device can be used to treat certain superficial skin lesions without traditional cutting or stitches.
The device delivers controlled energy to the surface of the skin, allowing suitable skin tags and other benign lesions to be treated precisely while minimising disruption to the surrounding skin.
Every area is assessed before treatment. Any lesion that is pigmented, changing, unusual or cannot confidently be identified as suitable for cosmetic treatment will not be treated and may require assessment by your GP or a dermatology service first.
Safety always comes before cosmetic removal.
A mole or pigmented lesion that has changed in size, shape or colour, developed irregular borders, started bleeding, itching or crusting, or looks unusual should be medically assessed rather than cosmetically removed.
Plasma treatment destroys tissue at the treatment site, meaning there may not be an intact specimen available afterwards for laboratory analysis. For this reason, suspicious or uncertain lesions will not be treated.
Where appropriate, you may be advised to speak to your GP or seek dermatology assessment before considering cosmetic treatment.
The area is examined and your medical history is reviewed to determine whether plasma treatment is appropriate.
If there is any concern about a lesion, treatment will not go ahead.
A topical numbing cream may be applied to make the procedure more comfortable.
The plasma device is used precisely on the selected area. Treatment itself is usually quick, although appointment time will depend on the number and size of areas being treated.
A small dry crust or scab will usually develop over the treated area as it heals.
Do not pick, scratch or remove the crust. Allow it to come away naturally to reduce the risk of scarring, infection or changes in pigmentation.
Healing time varies between individuals and treatment areas, but the crust commonly sheds within approximately 7–14 days.
Full aftercare instructions will be provided following your appointment.
Assessment is always carried out before treatment, and anything that requires medical investigation will be referred rather than removed.
Good to know
Very little. Numbing cream is used where needed, and each spot is treated in a few seconds.
Most spots heal cleanly. There can be some temporary redness, or a lighter or darker patch while the skin settles, and there is a small risk that this lasts longer.
No. Only moles that are clearly harmless are treated. Anything that has changed, bleeds, itches or looks unusual is referred to your GP, because plasma removal leaves nothing to test.
A treated skin tag will not regrow, but new ones can form over time, particularly where skin rubs. Warts can occasionally return, because they are caused by a virus.
Up to four skin tags or benign lesions are included in the £50 price. If you have more, you will be given a clear price at your assessment.
